My dog has struggled with allergies and has gotten much better with this oil, also she love the taste of it in her food!TL;DR Version: Definitely worth a try! I have noticed a difference since using it. It's not a cure-all by any means but i believe it can definitely improve severe allergies.background: I have a 5 yr old mixed breed (mainly shih tzu and poodle) that has horrible skin allergies. Some days he would lick, bite, and scratch until he bled (especially if I couldn't catch it because I was at work) It was heartbreaking because I knew he was in so much pain and discomfort. It's not that bad during the summer, but it's ridiculous during the colder months as of course his skin gets dryer and more susceptible to irritation. I have tried so many things, change of diet, consistent bathing and moisturizing, chewable supplements (which he hated), sprays (which he also hates but I persisted with because it seemed to provide the most temporary alleviation of all the methods) And then I found this. I've done some research on the benefits of salmon oil and hemp oil and figured it couldn't hurt to try it out. I purchased a little less than 3 weeks ago and started off with about half the recommended daily intake and he now takes the full amount.pros: #1 he eats it right off a spoon! But for some reason won't eat it if it's drizzled on his food. Not sure what that's about but whatever way he takes it is fine with me. I'm sure I don't have to tell long time pet parents how hard it is to keep a routine when a dog doesn't like something. #2 Even within that initial week i noticed a SIGNIFICANT drop in the amount of time he has spent scratching and licking. His skin has returned to a normal pale pink vs the pinkish/reddish and clearly irritated color it is when he's suffering. Exactly what I was hoping for.cons: #1 i wish there were a more simple way to dispense the oil (thinking of a cheapo medicine spoon) that came straight with the bottle. This isn't a necessity in any way, but would be a nice & convenient bonus. #2 It's a little more expensive than I would like, luckily I have a small dog, but I can't imagine having multiple larger dogs and needing to get this replenished on a frequent basis. It's worth it, but eventually will add up to a pretty sizable expense. #3 I really want to give a full 5 stars but it's still pretty early on to say that this works perfectly. Like I mentioned before, my dog eats grain free food (just 6 by rachael ray), I take him to get groomed regularly and also do my part at home, and in between grooming use anti fungal sprays and moisturizing sprays. So it may very well just be a combination of all of that. And there's nothing wrong with that, but I want to be transparent and want to give credit appropriately, because it doesn't mean the oil isn't helping, it just isn't be a cure-all that some of you might be looking for. I've noticed that if I don't give it at regular intervals ( i spread the full amount over two feedings -- morning and evening) he seems to be a little more itchy, but that could just be me.Update #2: I've been giving this fish oil to my dog for over a year and a half. My dog is a full pittie, which is a breed notorious for allergies and skin problems. This oil, plus the Aller-Immune Bites and the vet's recommendation of daily doses of benadryl, have totally cured my dog. She also gets bathed with medicated shampoo once a week as an extra preventative measure. She just turned 10 and she looks healthy, happy and is energetic. She doesn't get rashes anymore and has stopped chewing on her feet. Her fur is super soft and her underbelly is clear. Even the vet was amazed by how good she looked for an older dog. I'll keep buying Zesty Paws products if it keeps my dog in excellent health!!Update #1: 2 pumps daily is probably going to stretch into 3 months. Dog still loves it and her coat is soooo, soooo soft. Energy level still up!! She's ready for whatever!! This stuff must do something for arthritis and old age.I bought this to see if it would actually benefit my dog in any noticeable way. Before this, I was using the ZPaws oil without the hemp, so I wasn't sure how this would differ from the regular oil.My dog is a 9 yr old pitbull. She's not exactly a huge ball of energy anymore. She also has skin allergies. This fish oil with hemp has done several things for her. She's got her old puppy energy and playfulness back and she dances around waiting for her food to be prepared in the morning. Her fur is glossy and sooooo soft. She had some thin areas of fur (hot spots) that are now filling in with new fur. Her eyes are bright and clear. The skin allergy on her paws is about 90% resolved. I'm amazed at how healthy and active she is after 5 weeks of using this. The hemp has made a huge difference! She's 55lbs and gets 2 pumps mixed into her dry kibble once a day. I add the benadryl tab in and because its hidden in her food with the fish oil, she takes it and doesn't spit the pill back out. The bottle is a little under the halfway point so I should get about 2 months out of one big bottle. It keeps well in the fridge. It does smell fishy, but my dog doesn't smell like it after she eats it.Recommend this product!!I used this for my puppies and they loved the flavor. It’s easy to dispense and the odor is not bad unlike other brands I’ve tried before that my dogs didn’t like.I’ve had my pup for about two years now, when I got her she was a foster because of COVID and I was not allowed to take her to my vet - only the shelters vet who never found anything wrong with her - as soon as she was mine I took her to my vet and she had a mild case of mange - she was treated but she always had two spots on her sides that were practically bold. I thought maybe it was stress or that she would lick that area too much so I tried anxiety treats, lotions, baths - nothing worked and eventually I gave up… until I saw this product on Tiktok and thought I would give it a try…. I received this on March 15,2022 and today is April 10th - I’ve been only giving her a half a serving for her size maybe four times per week and her bold spots are gone - because she is so dark is hard to take a good picture but I posted a before and two I took today for this review. Give it a try - it may work for you!I'm not sure of the benefits other than my dog loves the product being placed on his food. If I forget to put the oil on his food, he sits and stares at me and then back at his food trying to hint that I've forgotten something. I haven't noticed a difference in skin health though, I was hoping this would help alleviate some of his itchiness but I'm just not seeing it. I'll update if I do notice a difference. My dogs love the oil, and I want to see results. I hate that the bottle did not come full or have the full amount. I got the 32 oz and it was bearly right over the half way mark.My cat likes the smell, not me. My cat's fur it a lot softer. She seems to be more calm. She let's me know that she is not happy when I don't give it to her in her food.
